What to do in a Tornado?

Tornadoes kill roughly 100 people each year in United States. Most die after being struck by flying or falling debris. If a storm is approaching, therefore, it's best to move to a confined space where the chances of being struck are minimized. That means moving to the basement and sheltering beneath a table or work bench. If there is no basement, move to a closet or bathroom and use a mattress or blankets for extra protection. Stay away from windows, since glass may fly. Anyone caught outside should seek shelter in a basement or sturdy building. A car with seat belts fastened or a low ditch will do if no shelter is available. People in mobile homes should relocate to more secure structures.
